McCain Gets GOP Nod & RNC Speeches including Sarah Palin - Surprise Many

The careful GOP manipulated TV coverage of the RNC Wednesday night was an interesting sociological snapshot of the base of supporters physically present.

John McCain

You would have thought that some of the nationally known speakers - Meg Whitman, founder of that ittle company E-Ebay and Carly Fiorina, former chief executive of Hewlett-Packard were giving a speech to themselves inside a closet when talking of GOP reform and prosperity in the future - absolutely NO response what-so-ever from the convention hall packed audience. Truly astonishing, because some issues discussed to be accomplished by the potential McCain Presidency were put out there by these 2 McCain advisers and some of which was on the far side.

So what did the lethargic audience response to the new GOP prosperity touted by these two business icons mean exactly – the audience was NOT listening? If that by itself was not enough to get anyone watching to begin really questioning the authenticity of the current Republican platform of “Country First” … then maybe this is only more GOP headline stealing rhetoric.

connecting the dots

You would think after the miserable consequences of this poor economy with only 6 million new jobs created over the past 8 years (only 25+% of President Clinton’s 8 years of a very prosperous American job growth and the worst performance of any President - Bush, since Herbert Hoover and the great depression)… has saddled most people with financial hardship.

So are these GOP words of prosperity in direct contradiction of previous GOP actions and not believable – and is trusting them with the future of the United States a much too large leap of faith with failed responsibility as a measure of previous performance?

Sarah Palin

But, then when Former Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuuliani and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin (chosen one day after her selection interview and not after very much consideration), gave thundering speeches full of partisan innuendo and much completely stereo-typed and unfortunately false statements regarding the Democrats (the big Kaunas being Democrats financial mismanagement, higher taxes and bigger government), all of which have been the core of the current GOP leadership (Bush White House and Republican led congress), running the United States into the ditch.

It has became apparent that these Republicans were NOT speaking to thinking Independent voters like myself, who know this was patently disingenuous… and one was reminded that this is the same GOP political platform of Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly that only advance themselves from hysteric fabrication and extreme exaggeration of reality mostly taken out of context and not as a reflection of reality.

The media headline Sarah Palin passed her first test with flying colors – Bad, Bad Democrats & Drill, Drill, Drill… a new millennium fairy tale or just pandering to Republican’s business advertising dollars?

The former beauty queen runner-up Sarah Palin stated -

quotation mark-lftBefore I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my home town, she said. “And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain to them what the job involves. I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ’community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities.quotation mark-rt
How about stating that God wanted Bush to attack Iraq? The official duties of any Wasilla Mayor are:

  1. Preside at council meetings. The mayor may take part in the discussion of matters before the council, but may not vote, except that the mayor may vote in the case of a tie; (Palin had NO votes as Mayor)

  2. Act as ceremonial head of the city; (Some non-achievers do believe ceremonies can be a real challenge)

75% think she lied in office about trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired14. In 1997, she almost got recalled as mayor of Wasilla when she fired the city’s police chief and library director because they supported her opponent in the election18 -

About one third of the (2000 census 5,469 people, 1,979 households), people of Wasilla (33.6% under the age of 18 and named after Chief Wasilla, a respected local Dena’ina Athabascan Indian Chief.), which got it’s origin in 1917 - commute 43 highway miles (69 km) about one hour to work into Anchorage every day. One source Wasilla claims it means “breath of air” in the Dena’ina Athabascan Indian dialect. Other sources assert the name descended as a variation of the Russian name “Vasili” meaning “William”.The Dena’ina142 (Tanaina) Indians called the area Benteh, meaning ’among the lakes’.[16]143 Wasilla is surrounded by many lakes including Lake Lucille and Wasilla Lake. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasilla,_Alaska Out of respect to the Indians, the town was named Wasilla instead. In 1995 the City of Wasilla registered 1,100 businesses.
